Technical Support

General

We offer two type of support for equipment purchased from the Streaming Store: get free support from the manufacture direct (more information is available here), or get extensive support from our team for system setup and configuration (see below).

System Setup & Configuration

Setting up video equipment and configuring it to record video or to live stream can be complicated. A person who never used video equipment, or a person who has video production experience, but does not know how to configure streaming equipment may find it challenging to setup and configure streaming gear. Most of us can operate a video camera or DVD player, but to connect multiple cameras to a video mixer, to configure special settings, to connect a video mixer to a streaming encoder, and to send a live stream to an online video service can be frustrating and time consuming to people without prior experience.

The average process of purchasing and configuring equipment for live streaming requires 3 steps:

1. Plan and purchase the correct components based on your desired workflow. This includes drawing a plan where all possible video and audio sources are listed, the location where the equipment will be installed is examined, and logical relationship between all parts is estbalished. This steps requires technical skills and knowledge of all possible components, their dependencies, actual cost, and production capabilities. Selection of streaming gear sometimes depends on the end target - where the live stream will be sent to.

2. Once the equipment is purchased, the next step is to assamble and connect it together. This process involves camera setup, wiring, power supply, connection of video and audio sources to mixers, configuration of video recorders and video encoders, and documentation of all steps to operate them, to allow the operator fast access to operations and troubleshooting.

3. The last step involves the actual connection between the live stream encoder to the streaming service provider platform(s). This step requires knowledge of video platforms and best practice methods (encoded stream configuration, player selection, troubleshooting tips).
